Theatre 68, a twenty one year old, bi-coastal theatre company is casting and seeking actors writers, directors, and producers to join the L.A. chapter of Theatre 68!
Artistic director states: “We are looking for dedicated, open-minded, and talented individuals interested not only in acting, but in writing, producing, and directing as well. Theatre 68 nurtures artists in all aspects of theatre. We believe in creating your own work instead of waiting in line for the phone to ring.”
Every Monday night from 7-10 p.m. PST, we meet for what we call our ‘Actor’s Gym.’ This is where we work out as actors, doing improv, cold reads, prepared scene work, etc. It is much like a structured class for a fraction of the cost of a class yet everyone has a voice and you are given a space to create every Monday. Amongst other scheduled evenings, we conduct a Director and Producer Workshop annually and are minimally assigned two writing assignments a year, one being a monologue to be performed in events such as our annual Bi-Coastal Monologue Jam and our One Act Play Festival.
Once you are a member in L.A. or New York, you are grandfathered into being a member on both coasts! We have been honored to have been joined by special guest speakers such as Tony Award winner, Joe Mantegna; award-winning playwright, Neil LaBute; and NY casting director, Donna McKenna, to name a few.
Theatre 68 has produced over 110 plays between Los Angeles, NY and Chicago. We have premiered the work of some amazing playwrights including: John Patrick Shanley, Sam Shepard, Sam Henry Kass, John Grisham (adapted by Rupert Holmes) and others… also including our Artistic Director, Ronnie Marmo.
