[NoHo Arts District, CA] – Luminario Ballet presents the silky, gothic ballet “Zarathustra!” with special guest Thelma Houston for a combined fundraising Gala and general audience show on Sunday, October 22.
“Zarathustra!” asks the question the philosopher Nietsche posed: “Are the body and the soul separate, or, together one and the same?”
Luminario Ballet will answer that and more as their dancers and aerialists explore the elements of Fire, Water, Sun, Moon, and Darkness- which sounds just like Los Angeles and our world these days!

“…Since our last episode in February, where at The Wallis we found Luminario Ballet being burned at the stake as witches, crucified as Jesus Christ, and jailed for pot smoking; this wild, scrappy crew has pulled together a cast of superstars worthy of a Roman Colosseum,” says artistic director Judith FLEX Helle.
“Zarathustra!” is a gorgeous, silky, Gothic romantic ballet. You will squirm with delight as the ferocious dancers and fearless aerialists perform like lions and gladiators for you.

SPECIAL GUEST STAR THELMA HOUSTON
Grammy Award-winning Motown superstar and Disco QUEEN Thelma Houston will sing and dance with Luminario Ballet to a new choreography by Bianca Sapetto, Luminario Ballet founding member and Thelma Houston pal from their shows at Teatro ZinZanni San Francisco.
SPECIAL GUEST STAR JESUS FLORIDO
Jesus Florido is a Yamaha violinist who has performed with- everyone- from Itzak Perlman and Zubin Mehta to Robert Plant and Gotan Tango! Originally from Venezuela who grew up with Gustavo Dudamel in El Sistema, Jesus is famous for playing with…himself- creating live onstage loops and layers to create an awesome and transporting sonic experience. This is a do-not-miss!
The 5:30 PM Gala
The Gala includes hosted bar, hors d’ouevres, seated dinner with wine, silent auction, Fund-A-Need live auction, raises money for Luminario Ballet’s upcoming 2024 music group collaborations with three classical, Latino, and contemporary superstar groups to be revealed at the Gala for shows in Los Angeles and, on tour!
Hint: one of them might be Thelma Houston, and one of them might be Jesus Florido, and one of them might be a world-famous conductor!
