[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts theatre review of Write of Spring (2025): Cracking Open Art, written by various Write Act writers.
Write Act Rep’s yearly Write of Spring is here once again! A selection of short plays, all written and performed by Write Act Rep members, with this year’s theme being Art. Brilliant!

The highly inventive folks of this wonderful company really outdid themselves this year with hilarious, heartfelt, weirdly wonderful stories based on everything from the Mona Lisa to Dali, Japanese Cherry Blossom myths to criminally interfering arts teachers, sparring art lovers to an out-of-work artist dreaming of his dead muse.
These fascinating romps are far more than just an exercise on a theme, though. They are a wonderful way to inspire as well as entertain. They give this theatre company and its members a wonderful way to push their boundaries, reinvent themselves, cast across type, write roles for themselves they might never consider playing, and truly stretch themselves as actors and writers.

Write Act Rep always surprises me and never disappoints. Write of Spring (2025): Cracking Open Art is as good a show as I have ever seen them do. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them “Crack Open Art” that’s for sure! I also loved watching these fine actors having so much fun together. Joy like that reverberates and stays with you long after the show is over. Art as therapy!
I truly recommend Write of Spring (2025): Cracking Open Art. What a wonderful collection of enlightening and entertaining plays. All connected by a love for art of every type.

The BrickHouse Theatre is such a great little theatre tucked away in the NoHo Arts District. We are blessed that it still remains, when we have lost so many others. Bravo to all for this lovely selection of plays!
