The NBA Finals are quickly approaching, and anyone who is a fan of basketball will be tuning in around the globe to watch all the action unfold. There are four teams left after progressing through the earlier rounds of the play-offs, and no matter who wins, whether it be the Clippers, the Suns, the Hawks or the Bucks, it will be their first championship win in more than half a century.

The Western Conference final sees the Los Angeles Clippers, who are now the odds-on favourites to win the championship, take on the Phoenix Suns. Whilst in the Eastern conference final, we have the Milwaukee Bucks with their ‘big three’ taking on the Atlanta hawks. Each of those ties are mouth-watering affairs with the way the teams have all been playing this season.

Sadly, we’re not quite at full capacity just yet in sports, with the COVID-19 pandemic having ended the season early last year, and then seen sports come back with reduced capacity crowds. So if you weren’t able to get tickets to some of these games, don’t worry, you weren’t the only one. Fortunately there has been enhanced coverage of these games this season to ensure those fans who cannot attend don’t miss out.

With that being the case, if you live in North Hollywood, you may be asking yourself “where am I going to watch the NBA tonight?” when the finals come around. We’re here to help you by telling you some of the best places you can catch the NBA Finals.

The 513

If you’re looking for a sports bar to head to, then look no further than The 513. Rated the number one sports bar in North Hollywood on Yelp.com. It had been shut for a while due to the pandemic, but reopens and does so just in time for the NBA Finals. It offers a great menu full of tasty bar snacks, and screens both inside and outside of the bar on their patio terrace. Meaning there won’t be a place in there you won’t be able to see a screen, so you won’t miss any of the action.

But if you’re worried about how they’re keeping people safe being open during one of the most exciting events this year, don’t worry, they have plenty of safety measures in place and we’ve listed them for you below:

  • Social distancing enforced;
  • Staff wear masks;
  • Hand sanitizer provided;
  • Limited capacity;
  • Masks required;
  • Contactless payments.

El Tejano

If you’re wanting to make a whole day of it, and bar snacks just won’t cut it, maybe check out the El Tejano sports bar that has an exquisite tex-mex menu. Not just that, but like The 513, they too have both indoor and outdoor seating available, and actually have more enhanced safety protocols for those worried about COVID-19, which you can check out below:

  • Social distancing enforced;
  • Staff wear masks;
  • Sanitizing between customers;
  • Staff wears gloves;
  • Hand sanitizer provided;
  • Limited capacity;
  • Masks required;
  • Contactless payments.

Michael’s Bar

There are some people out there, call them conspiracy theorists if you will, that aren’t worried about the pandemic at all. If that’s the case, then Michael’s Bar is your best bet to visit. It’s a dive/sports bar, with fewer screens dotted around than the others, but you can grab a game of pool there, or sit outside whilst you watch the NBA finals. And you can do all this with barely any safety measures in place for COVID-19. In fact, besides social distancing, which is just nice anyway to not have someone breathing down your neck, they don’t have any other policies.

And they’re your best locations to check out in North Hollywood if you’re planning on not watching the NBA Finals at home. However, if you’re not going to be able to get back in time, don’t worry. You can catch it on the television at home, which will be cheaper, and you’re less likely to get kicked out for being too drunk, unless maybe you get on your partner’s nerves too much.

If that is the case, you could also head out of North Hollywood just slightly south to Residuals Bar, the sports bar with the highest rating on Yelp with four and a half stars. We’re not too sure what their safety policies are on COVID-19 right now, as they’re just out of the area, but you’ll rarely find someone saying a bad thing about the place. And it won’t cost much in a cab to get there and back.

But wherever you go, or whatever you do for the NBA finals, we just hope you have a good time. Just make sure you don’t over-do it on the tequila slammers, and you stay safe!
