What changes do you want to see on Lankershim Blvd.?
From the office of Councilmember Krekorian and the Mayor’s Great Streets Plan.
Dear Friend:
Lankershim Boulevard runs through the heart of the East Valley. It is a major corridor that connects our communities to one another. In 2014, this busy thoroughfare between Magnolia Boulevard and Vanowen Street was one of the first 15 streets to be designated as part of the Mayor’s LA Great Streets Initiative.
The program aims to improve pedestrian safety, enhance streets with improved infrastructure and add green space to areas that lack it. With the help of my office, the Great Streets Initiative and city departments have been reaching out to important businesses, residents and stakeholders on the designated corridor to identify ways that we can increase safety, mobility and economic vitality for the area.
Great Streets Proposal
North Hollywood is already a desirable neighborhood for people who live in the area and, in recent years, has become a destination for anyone looking to experience good food, entertainment and culture. The Great Streets Initiative is looking to take NoHo’s positives and enhance them. I see it as an opportunity to revitalize a section of Lankershim and further beautify the neighborhood, but before we move forward, it is important that the city gets your thoughts on what will be best for our neighborhood.
The Mayor’s Great Streets plan proposes adding street trees and landscaping along the corridor, including a protected bike lane, improving pedestrian crosswalks and much more. You can read the full proposal here: lagreatstreets.org/lankershim.
