Wallpaper; is it right for me?

Wallpaper; is it right for me?

For some, the thought of wallpaper seems too old, outdated and just plain ugly.  But the reality is wallpaper has been making a comeback for the last few years.  Now, not every room is suited for this undertaking, but two that I love are the guest powder room and dining room.  These rooms seem to be a bit more accepting of this application.

The smallest powder room can handle a large, bold print.  It can bring a whole new meaning and life to that space that you aren’t able to achieve with just paint.  It can evoke emotion to an otherwise fundamental room, spark conversation and even just make you happy as the homeowner.

The other space I love papering is the dining room, and for obvious reasons.  It tends to elevate the style of the room and help determine its style identity.  It too, can spark conversation as you sit with family and friends during holidays, birthday dinners, anniversaries, etc.  Here, you can go in almost any direction.  Large or small scale, bold or subdued, traditional or electric and even smooth or textured.  Many traditionally styled dining room even have a full wall papered in a mural or historical scene.  I tend to like things a bit graphic or even linear.  Whatever you choose, make sure it makes sense for you and your space.
