NoHo Arts music review of Walking Apollo’s “You’re My Pride and Joy, Etc.” EP release.
“You’re My Pride and Joy, Etc.” is a gorgeous EP, lightly produced, with an almost live feeling. Walking Apollo, a Fort Worth, Texas-based indie folk project, is something truly special. This small collection of songs seem much more than written, they seem channeled.
Each song a passionate cry out into the world. Some swinging and catchy, some piercing and heart-rending, but all with insightful, poignant and poetic lyrics.
With a mixture of voices, male and female, Buddy Taccolini and Christina Rotondo blend exquisitely together. Some voices are just meant to sing together, there’s a magical quality, the way the tones collide, combined they become more than they ever could apart. I hear that in these wonderful vocal performances.
I adore these songs. They feel like a love story, cinematic, truthful, deeply moving and very romantic. I definitely want more of Walking Apollo.
Buddy Taccolini was moved to write these song by his muse, his wife, and it really feels like a love note to her. The best music is always the most personal, and these songs are clearly deeply personal and purposefully written. If I were Buddy Taccolini’s wife I’de be thrilled!!!
Favorite Track off Walking Apollo’s “You’re My Pride and Joy, Etc.” is “Glowing in the Dark.” Watch the video below! Just a beautiful beautiful song.
