THROUGH THE EYE OF A NEEDLE

The Road Theatre Company Presents  the World Premiere of

“THROUGH THE EYE OF A NEEDLE”

Written by Jami Brandli

Directed by Ann Hearn

Dana Keen has died serving as a Navy corpsman in the Iraq War.  It’s now Christmas, and the Keen family is suffering with this tragedy.  Despair and the pain of losing a child, especially at Christmas, cannot be minimalized, and is not something anyone should have to go through.  This emotional world premiere dramedy, THROUGH THE EYE OF A NEEDLE,” will resolve if the Keen family will be torn apart, or find the strength and guidance to be a loving family once again.

Her parents, Larry (David Gianopoulos) and Barbara (Meeghan Holaway), each have their own survival mechanism.  Larry drinking numerous glasses of scotch, and Barbara busying herself preparing the Christmas dinner set the scene for the evening.  Dana’s sister Samantha (Kaitlin Huwe) has taken to involvement in protest movements, changed her name to “S,” and has schooled herself in karate.  She is defiant and planning a protest at the GW bridge that evening.  But, the ghost of Dana (Kara Hume) is ever present:  still very much alive in everyone’s heart and mind.

Christmas dinner guests arrive with the Keen’s exuberant family minister, Pastor Bill Towers (Chet Grissom) and rather ditsy wife, Shirley (Stephanie Erb), who has brought a huge bowl of ambrosia.  But the most important guest is yet to arrive…one that is unexpected…Dana’s Iraqi refugee friend Nasser (Erica Mathlin).  And Nasser may be the Christmas gift everyone needs.

Jami Brandli’s creative script has many twists and turns, with numerous storylines, and brings an excellent ensemble cast together expressing the passion and feelings of each character with great direction by Ann Hearn.  The production is well done… great set, great lighting.

The Road Theatre has brought a fantastic new play, “THROUGH THE EYE OF A NEEDLE,” bringing us the true meaning of love and family.  Another evening in NoHo not to be missed.

Enjoy!!!!!!!
