The Whitefire Theatre Presents “Lost: The Musical” with Book and Lyrics by Steven Christopher Parker and Steven Brandon, and Directed by Steven Brandon
I caught this company’s previous production of “Shame of Thrones: The Musical” at the Whitefire earlier this year, which was excellent, so I was very happy when I heard about this. I’m a huge “Lost” fan…wow was that really 15 years ago??
I was not disappointed!! This show is hilarious! The songs are set to music we are all familiar with, from Rolling Stones songs to Disney musicals and the perverted and totally confusing plot lines are amply and brilliantly recreated.
The cast is superb, such fantastic casting. Some of the actors play multiple roles and everyone appears to be having a lot of fun. Let’s face it, this is not a stuffy, serious theatrical piece, this is pure satirical bliss.
There are hand puppets and dog suits, hatches and balloon bombs, fake babies birthed onstage, polar bears and even a pretty impressive depiction of the mysterious wind cyclone thingies…so funny!
There were a lot of “Lost” fans in the audience, which helps really, there are many many ‘in’ jokes. But if you have never seen the show you could still enjoy the evening, the performers are very impressive and the songs were so well written.
I loved it!! I hear that over the years quite a few of the original “Lost” cast members have sat in the audience, they all loved it, of course. Who wouldn’t love this kind of insanely clever and loving adaptation of their work!
This show runs through September 23rd and is only on Monday nights at the Whitefire.
I fully intend to see it again!!! Let’s get retro and go back to the island!
Running July 15th through September 23rd, Mondays at 8pm
