The Orphan Who Saved Christmas

The Orphan Who Saved Christmas at Whitmore-Lindley Theatre Center – 11006 Magnolia Blvd. in  NoHo Arts District

The Orphan really does save Christmas!!

More like a children’s show for adults “The Orphan Who Saved Christmas” is a holiday delight for audiences 16 and over.

Kris (played with sincere perfection by Hayes Dunlap) was raised in an underfunded orphanage with Portia (played by the elegant Erica J. Green), a very rich woman with whom Kris became close growing up; although she was adopted and he wasn’t.

Portia is married to Achmed (played by the Zany David Doman), an international conman who is attempting to swindle her fortune.

Kris and his girlfriend Gwen (played by happy home-maker Kassie Johnston) invite their flamboyant, yet not-quite-out-of-the-closet friend, Stephan (played by the over-the-top timing of Preston Bailey) to their home for drinks and carolling. Stephan brings his ‘friend’ Dom (played by the dry-witted Jacob Tittl) who doesn’t mind pretending for the love of his life.

When Kris decides not to go caroling due to his loathing of Christmas, he is visited by a rude elf named Bingo who brings the news that Santa is sick and attempts to convince Kris to deliver the packages with one stipulation.

From there we meet the ghosts of the Past, Present and Future (played by the Ensemble) who help Kris realize what Christmas is about.

In the end: The orphan saves Christmas as the title suggests with some help from his friends.

With tummy giggle surprises and a guest appearance by a perverted old woman, this show will have you laughing from beginning to end. Alcoholic drinks are allowed in the theatre and certainly encouraged as it will take the shyness out of a quiet laugher.
