“The King” is coming…to NoHo

“A multimedia musical stage production based on the career of Elvis Presley and his return to ‘LIVE” performance”

“The King” is coming. Award-winning entertainer and recipient of the “Heart of the King” Award Ted Torres Martin in conjunction with KWICK Productions is proud to bring the live stage production of “Back to Live” to El Portal Theatre in the NoHo Arts District. The multimedia stage production will take audiences on an astounding musical journey through the life and career of “The King of Rock n’ Roll” himself Elvis Presley and his return to “LIVE” performance in Las Vegas.

This first-of-its-kind musical performance tells the story of Presley’s modest beginnings, rise to fame and return to live performing while featuring some of his greatest hits, including Blue Suede Shoes and Hound Dog and even a few rare and classic tunes. Through the use of multimedia film sequences, live stage acting and concert segments featuring back up singers, Estelle Brown and Portia Griffin of the legendary “Sweet Inspirations” who backed Elvis himself on several nationwide tours and Southern California’s own tribute band, TCB Flash Band, “ELVIS-BACK TO LIVE!” creates an entertainment experience like no other.

“In addition to being an amazing musician, singer and entertainer, Elvis was a down-to-earth and humble person with a big heart,” says Torres Martin. “My love and respect for him and his music have kept me focused as a tribute artist for all of these years. “‘Back to Live’ is a show unlike any other because it shows you Elvis’ human side. It will leave audiences with knowledge of not only how great of an entertainer he was, but also a kindhearted, down-to-earth human being.”

Why is this show more than an Elvis tribute?

*As an actor and musician I decided to approach this as an actor since It Is a stage production. I incorporated the acting elements in it as I portray both Live and on Film some moments of Elvis’ life and career. It is a different kind of show and I hope the public enjoys it.

How did you begin your tribute to Elvis?

*My parents were both recording artists. So I grew up around music since I was a child. I decided to do songwriting and I play a few instruments as well. Also decided to study acting and music theory to be as well rounded as I could. I have been an Elvis fan since the age of 12. One day I sang in front of a friend and he said I sounded like Elvis,That I should do something with it. It all started from there.

Is there something about Elvis that no one knows…that you’d like to share?

*Over the years I’ve had the privilege to have worked and become friends with a lot of people that worked and were very close to Elvis. I know a lot of great stories that a lot of people don’t know. I Wouldn’t know where to start. But the thing people should know is that Elvis was a very down to earth and generous man. He had a great heart and never forgot where he came from.

What’s your favorite Elvis song(s) you like to perform?

*I have many different ones from every era.But I do like to perform “Suspicious Minds” and “What Now My Love.”
