Join Best National Solo Artist Winner and Soaring Solo Studios International CEO, Jessica Lynn Johnson, for a 100% FREE class, “The Art of Creating a One-Person Show.”
Having developed and directed nearly 200 solo shows and coached and produced hundreds of solo artists all around the world, Jessica will lend her solo theatre expertise to this FREE 90-minute deep dive into the nuts and bolts of writing, performing, producing and touring a one-person show.
No matter where you are in the creation of your solo show, the idea phase, curiosity phase, full draft written, touring the festival and college market, Jessica’s class will meet you where you are at and take you to the next level.
No previous writing or performance experience is necessary, and there is no need to have written anything to bring to class. Jessica will guide you in prompts and exercises to help generate new material. She will give her professional input on your solo excerpt (should you choose to share), and Jessica will also answer your questions about the writing structure for a one-person play, performance technique and character development that are unique to this genre. Jessica will also take time to inform participants of submission opportunities to festivals, provide tips on touring and so much more!
If you do have a short excerpt of solo theatre that you would like to share during the “prepared work” section of class, that is great too. Jessica will see as many pieces as time allows during her free class.
All that is required to attend this extraordinary creative event is an RSVP, a willingness to explore, something to write with and write on, and either a computer, a phone or an ipad to be able to join us on ZOOM.
