[NoHo Arts District, CA] – The 15th Annual Hollywood Fringe Festival is officially open, running from June 12-29.
Following a week of previews, the festival launched last night with its Opening Night Party at the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Over the next month, nearly 2,000 performances and events will take place across the Hollywood neighborhood, followed by the Fringe Awards Ceremony and Closing Night Party on June 30. With over 416 productions registered, the most in the festival’s history, this year’s Fringe marks a milestone moment for L.A.’s vibrant and growing independent arts scene.
“Hollywood Fringe is more than a festival, it’s a citywide celebration of independent art,” says Hollywood Fringe Co-Executive Director Lois Neville. “Whether you’re already a theater fan or just curious, this is the place to discover something that will inspire you.”
With so many options, it can be challenging to decide what shows to see at the 15th annual Hollywood Fringe Festival. Audiences can explore shows by category, tags, dates, venues, and more at hollywoodfringe.org/shows, by schedule at hollywoodfringe.org/schedule, or via the Hollywood Fringe Festival mobile app. Ticket prices are set by artists as part of the Fringe’s mission to empower creators to act as their own producers, with the average ticket costing $15. This year, 49 productions have chosen the “pay what you can” model, and 25 productions are choosing to present their work to audiences for free.
“Hollywood Fringe is proud to provide a platform for financially accessible theatre not only to the artists producing work, but also to the audiences who get to experience it,” says Hollywood Fringe Co-Executive Director, Ellen Boudreau Den Herder.
Festival organizers encourage audiences to spend time at Fringe HQ, the community hub of the festival. Located at Ovation Hollywood for the second year in a row, Fringe HQ features an in-person Box Office & Merch Shop staffed with Fringe team members to help answer questions and provide recommendations. Fringe HQ hosts special events throughout the festival, including Fringe Cabaret, Discover Fringe Arts Industry events, mixers, and more. It is also the place to pick up a Fringe Button, the official community badge that unlocks exclusive perks like $1 off ticket purchases through the Fringe site and discounts at local businesses through the Hot Spot program.
