QUEEN OF THE WORLD-AN EVENING WITH MARLENE DIETRICH

During the Golden Era of Hollywood, no one could approach the sensuous and oftentimes androgynous glamour and mystique of Marlene Dietrich. “Queen of the World-An Evening with Marlene Dietrich” is a one person show written, performed, and directed by Ivette Viñas, which recounts the legends’ extraordinary life, her outspoken stance against Nazism and fascism, and fiery love affairs with Hollywood’s most notable men and women. LAUGH AFTER DEATH

SHAME-FULL

Nina never asked to be born and has spent her entire life feeling bad about it. Through intimate storytelling and characters, she explores areas of shame experienced trying to escape her own reality: her childhood obsession with suffering and martyrdom, being a prolific fanfiction writer at 13, and her subsequent fall from fanfic grace, getting “saved” at age 16 and being a born-again Christian. Written by Nina Concepción and directed by Haley Hepworth, this eccentric solo show from a neurotic Latina asks the question: are we born with shame, or are we taught to feel it?

JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL: A SOLO FLIGHT

Jonathan Livingston Seagull is no ordinary bird.
Banished to the Far Cliffs by his flock for daring to break with tradition, Jonathan spends his life in pursuit of his unbound passion for flight, not to scrape and scrabble for food—but for the joy of flight itself.  Richard Bach’s bestselling novella is vividly brought to life by adapter/performer Andrew Thacher, directed by Paul Millet. Join Jonathan on his journey through the here and now, and all of eternity, as he soars to the heights of perfection, freedom, and love. BRAINWASHED

In this solo clown show created and performed by Alina Konon, Alina brings her personal sometimes bizarre experiences from living in Belarus under a brutal regime to the stage. Her dark comedy explores her childhood love for all things communist, and, through a series of absurd clown bits, she engages the audience in the process of brainwashing. The show features a mix of silly elements, including live cooking of soup, which is shared with the audience. Trigger warnings: mentions of death, murder, self-harm, police brutality and partial nudity.

BARRYMORE

Barrymore, a play by William Luce, performed by Vito D’Ambrosio, directed by Bryan Rasmussen, depicts actor John Barrymore a few months before his death in 1942 as he is rehearsing a revival of his 1920 Broadway triumph as Richard III. Barrymore’s Richard III revival never took place, but was a device invented to serve as a dramatic framework for the actor to reminisce about various episodes in his life and about his career downslide due to alcoholism. Though classified as a one-person play, Barrymore makes frequent use of a second character, Frank the stage manager, who interacts with Barrymore over the theatre loudspeaker.

CASUALTY OF WAR

Sharon’s got a perfect itinerary planned: A mother-son tour of Normandy and Omaha Beach, great French food and a visit to Paris. What she gets is a journey with a sullen, heart-broken adolescent whose own emotional D-Day turns him into a hostile adversary pining for home. She’s surprised by how the WW2 history they encounter invokes memories of antisemitism and the impact the Holocaust had on her family. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll crave rosé.  CASUALTY OF WAR is written and performed by Sharon Lesser and directed by Austen Tooley.
