So in NoHo we run for pizza

So how do we get fit in 2017 and still eat pizza? With the Pitfire Running Club, of course!

Pitfire Running Club is NoHo Arts District’s first social running club!

We always say: “NoHo is only as great at its people.” This is true for the Pitfire Running Club, the group bringing running and pizza together. Meet the Pitfire Running Club. Whether you’re a season runner or a newbie, you can still enjoy the health benefits of a good run along with making a whole new set of friends. And did we mention, there’s pizza?

Here are some common questions answered.

Can anyone join?

What if you’re not a good runner yet? What if a runner is slower?

Yes! Absolutely anybody can join! We encourage our members and those on the fence about joining us to start the week off with an easy run. It’s hard to get going on a Monday and we as runners know that so our club has many paces to choose from. If you don’t feel like running, you can walk with us! There is always someone there to join you on the route.

Do you go a certain route?

From Pit Fire, we go down Lankershim onto the Chandler bike path and into Burbank where we turn around at Pass Avenue and run the route back. It comes up 3.2 or 3.4 on our runner’s GPS watches.

What fun things have you done as a group?

Our club held an event called “The Pizza Mile”. It’s like the Beer mile but with pizza. We gave prizes to our members that participated in the last one. Due to popular demand, we will bring it back in 2017 but with better prizes. The Pizza Mile is open competitive so keep your eyes open on our social media to find out when will we be doing it next!

Why should someone join?

Our club is all inclusive. Many of us know the feeling of coming into something established and trying to fit in, it’s awkward. We have no cliques, no inner circles and no cool kids. Come as you are! We love to reward our loyal runners that join us on a weekly basis too. Every member gets a free club shirt after 10 visits with us and discounts with the restaurant (only on Mondays).

Are there any dues or responsibilities?

We are free to join but we do ask our members to sign a waiver before they run with us.

Why did you choose Pitfire Pizza (we love them and are glad you did!)

The FFP (Fun, Fitness and Philanthropy. A non-profit organization) wanted to start a run club in the San Fernando Valley and Pitfire was willing to host! It was the perfect match. We are glad to be a part of their restaurant. They treat our runners like family.

Is there anything you want to highlight or we should know about?

Pitfire Running Club is for everyone. Your first visit with us automatically makes you a member.

More about the FFP Running Club

FFP Running Clubs’ mission is to develop free community based running clubs throughout the country (and the world) that promote a stronger culture of “Fitness, Fun and Philanthropy”. We believe in the powers of connecting to others through running and other physical activities. We all know that running can positively impact one person’s life but connecting to a whole community through running just might change the world!

FFP Running Clubs is a 501 c (3) non-profit organization dedicated to creating free community based running clubs throughout the country that promote a culture of FITNESS, FUN and PHILANTHROPY (their core principles).

• FITNESS: Encourage people of all fitness levels to make running a fun part of their daily lives and develop better health and wellness.
• FUN: Enable people to socialize with other fitness-minded individuals to make lasting relationships in their lives.
• PHILANTHROPY: Empower people to get involved in raising money and awareness for well deserving charitable organizations within their own communities.

Through weekly social gatherings each affiliate club attracts a large base of fitness minded individuals who encourage one another to run on a consistent basis. Each weekly 5k fun run concludes with members meeting for food and drinks at the sponsoring establishment. In addition to each club’s weekly runs, the clubs organize and host unique fundraising events throughout the year to raise money and awareness for well deserving charitable organizations within their communities.
