New Music Friday 10/28: Rihanna, SZA, Paris Jackson, Tom Odell.

Still recovering from perhaps this year’s strongest New Music Friday from last week, we present you this week’s follow-up featuring new tunes from Rihanna, SZA, Paris Jackson and Tom Odell.

Rihanna – Lift Me Up (Def Jam)

Perhaps the most highly anticipated musical comeback this year (…or decade) is Rihanna’s new track Lift Me Up which is the singer’s first new single since 2016’s Love On The Brain.

The fresh banger is featured on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.

With Lift Me Up, the femme fatale of beauty, fashion and music surely meets the high expectations of her upcoming sound, yet leaves us guessing the musical direction of her upcoming studio effort.

Tom Odell — Best Day Of My Life (UROK/Mtheory)

After his viral year of being back on the charts with his blockbuster 2016 hit Another Love, Odell is finally back with new music.

The fresh record Best Day of My Life underlines the tackling issues of mental health struggles and loads listeners up with hopeful yet bittersweet energy.

Paris Jackson – just you (Dragonflower / Republic)

Paris Jackson is back with new music after her critically acclaimed debut Wilted was brought to life through Republic Records in late 2020.

Exploring much rockier soundscapes with her latest releases, we are super excited about future bangers (hopefully) also produced by the amazing Butch Walker.

SZA – Shirt (RCA)

Another major comeback this week is surely SZA with her fresh single Shirt. Fans have not-so-quietly been waiting since her hit album Ctrl hit the shelves in the Summer of 2017, and really, the wait has been worth it.

Allegedly having over 100 songs ready to be fit to her next record, SZA hasn’t disappeared in the meantime – features on Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More” and Kendrick Lamar are just a few to name from her recent smash-collabs.

The record-breaking Ctrl spawned five platinum-or-higher selling singles and went on to spend over 280 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart.
