Reservoir Dolls

A NoHo Arts theatre review of Reservoir Dolls

[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts theatre review of Reservoir Dolls written and performed by Lani Harms and directed by Laurie Magers, at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2025

Reservoir Dolls – What an utterly brilliant idea. Lani Harms, as the character Atlanta Springfield, finds herself trapped inside Quentin Tarantino’s enormous head! She is his latest and perhaps final heroine. His swan song, if you will. However, Atlanta is a very unwilling ingenue and once she actually figures out that she is a figment of Tarantino’s brilliant but warped imagination, she is determined not to become a footnote in some creative genius’s career. She wants to escape. To break out and be her own actual person. She wants what we all want. Independence, autonomy and the right to wear a little more than just hot pants and tight t-shirts. She wants shoes dammit!

As she tries to find a way out, she encounters several of Tarantino’s former obsessions. Beatrix Kiddo from Kill Bill, Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction, and Shosanna Dreyfus from Inglorious Basterds. All these female characters, performed of course by Lani, come to Atlanta’s aid, or at least they try to, while she rattles around in the head of the movie industry’s most celebrated misfit.

Reservoir Dolls is a brilliant concept for a solo show. Flipping from character to character while still maintaining the illusion of being inside Quentin’s head and following this surreal yet somehow perfectly relatable storyline is a tightrope few could walk. And yet, the marvellously talented and gorgeous Lani Harms effortlessly navigates the characters and the beast of Quentin and gives a performance I dare anyone to better!

A rousing call to all women, real or imaginary, to be themselves, for themselves for heaven’s sake and to do that wearing whatever you god damn please! This is an utterly brilliant Hollywood Fringe show!! Loved it! It’s also very popular, so don’t dawdle or you won’t get a ticket!
