This week’s New Music Friday 11/17: Pharrell Williams, Olivia O’Brien, Cigarettes After Sex.
Pharrell Williams & Travis Scott – Down In Atlanta (Columbia)
A collab we didn’t know we needed that much. Hitmakers Pharell Williams and Travis Scott have teamed up for a vibey single Down In Atlanta, out today on Columbia Records.
With Scott’s surprise visit on Drake’s and 21 Savage’s blockbuster hit album, the fans have never been hungrier for a fresh set of solo music.
Cigarettes After Sex – Pistol (Partisan)
They are back! After a long wait, we can finally treat ourselves with some fine new Cigarettes After Sex music. The dreamy pop band has been awfully quiet for the past few years, with their last single dropping in May 2020 and their last full-length Cry hitting the shelves in 2019.
The new track Pistol surely fits its predecessors shoes and gives us hope for their third studio album dropping soon.
Olivia O’Brien – A Means To An End (Island)
The new micromixtape, as she calls it, A Means To An End is a brand-new three-track EP by Olivia O`Brien, who has been busy conquering the industry with collabs on Gryffin’s last record.
Though, O´Brien fails to surprise with songwriting and overall message of the collection. Perhaps her next releases will be able to touch the success of the superhit hate u love u.
FLETCHER – Better Version (feat. Kelsea Ballerini) (Capitol)
Amazing yet very (!!) unexpected collaboration from two pop (and country) powerhouses! Appearing as the last track on the deluxe version of O’Brien’s latest album Girl Of My Dreams, the collaboration sets the bar high for future country-superstar remixes that Ballerini has great experience in.
Leaving fans drooling for new music, Fletcher’s decision to drop new sounds a few weeks after the original record was a great decision and we can’t wait for more!
