[NoHo Arts District, CA] – The world premiere of Madmann’s Playground’s production of “Van Helsing’s Dracula” to usher in a new era of immersive circus dinner theater experiences starting October 21.
Enter a world where reality no longer exists, where you’re surrounded by creatures of the night, and dark fairy tales fill your every desire – a mysterious world of storytelling and performance art.
Madmann’s Playground’s production of “Van Helsing’s Dracula,” an immersive circus dinner theater experience, will have its world premiere for four performances only starting October 21 at Vatican Banquet Hall.
The unique venue will be transformed for an innovative production and an original sapphic spin on the gothic tale. The all-female cast of accomplished circus performers, dancers and actors will immerse the audience in the seductive world of “Van Helsing’s Dracula.”
Madmann’s Playground was launched by dancer/aerialist/producer Sarah Mann, whose longstanding connections to the Los Angeles dance and circus communities as both a performer and producer has helped to create a body of creative experiences in bars and nightclub environments.
Mann’s idea for “Van Helsing’s Dracula” has been in the works for seven years and really took shape during the pandemic. She reached out to director/intimacy coordinator Corrin Evans and actress/poet Katie Rediger to collaborate on a poetic narrative and shape the action around such circus skills as aerial, contortion, acrobatics and hand balancing, among others.
Sarah reached out to her father and Emmy Award-winning composer Hummie Mann to write an original score for percussion, keyboard, violin and harp to be performed live by a quartet of musicians.
Equally important to the show is the dining experience. To ensure diners receive an elevated dining experience, Anne Apra Events has been brought on board. As part of the creative team, Anne is designing a curated three-course menu of Romanian specialties thematically match the original narrative. The menu will be created with seasonal ingredients and will be able to meet a variety of dietary requirements, including gluten free and vegan.
Mann is bankrolling the lavish production as a first step toward establishing a permanent home for the Los Angeles circus community, where their talents will be showcased and adequately compensated. In 2024, Mann is looking to create three pop-up events on the way to finding a permanent location for Madmann’s Playground.
