[NoHo Arts District, CA] – THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY and Founder/Artistic Director Taylor Gilbert together with Artistic Director Sam Anderson, announce the third show of its 2024-2025 season, the West Coast premiere of THE TOTALITY OF ALL THINGS, written by Eric Gernand and directed by Taylor Nichols.
THE TOTALITY OF ALL THINGS Synopsis
When a hate crime rocks a small Indiana town, an act of vandalism escalates into something with potentially deadly consequences, and the search for answers only leads to uncertainty about the very nature of truth itself.
ABOUT THE TOTALITY OF ALL THINGS CREATIVE TEAM AND CAST
ERIK GERNAND (Playwright) His plays have been in production and/or development at theaters including Premiere Stages (Union, NJ), Redtwist, American Theater Company, and Chicago Dramatists (all Chicago), The Road Theatre (Los Angeles), Actors Theatre of Louisville, as well as The Barrow Group (NYC). As a filmmaker, his award-winning short films have screened at more than 100 film festivals around the world, including SXSW, Chicago International Film Festival, and Cinequest, as well as been broadcast on IFC, PBS, and the Logo Channel. Erik is graduate of Ball State University and a Professor of Instruction in Radio-TV-Film at Northwestern University.of Netflix’s “Dead Boy Detectives,” adapted from the cult Vertigo/DC comic.
TAYLOR NICHOLS (Director) is an award-winning short filmmaker, known for directing Two Heterosexual Men Get Ready to Go Out… and writing and directing Last Train. His theatre credits include the world premiere of North Beach, and the West Coast premiere of Plunge by Christopher Kyle. He has also directed Oleanna with Darby Stanchfield and Stephen Caffrey at the Malibu Stage, The Incident at Vichy by Arthur Miller, and Getting Out by Martha Norman. Taylor has directed several staged readings and workshops at The Road Theatre, including three plays by Erik Gernand. He has been collaborating with Gernand to adapt his play The Beautiful Dark into a feature film. In addition to his work as a director, Taylor has produced the features The Next Step and Case 219. However, he is perhaps best known for his acting career, which began with the Academy Award-nominated Metropolitan and has included recent roles in Pen15, “Perry Mason,” and Roar.
