[NoHo Arts District, CA] – E.L.A.T.E. 2025 proudly presents Moliere’s The Miser, directed by Vsevolod Yuri Krawczeniuk, at the Lincoln Stegman Theatre August 8-24.
The Miser is a rollicking and not-so-touching love story of a man and his money. Set in the Roaring ’20s, this comedy by Moliere features hilarious characters, biting satire, and the great music of the Jazz Age.
About The Miser
Written in 1668 and presented upward of 2,500 times over the next 350 years at the Comedia Francaise alone, The Miser is Moliere’s most successful play, both in France and internationally. Harpagon, a newly widowed geezer, consumed by fear of losing his wealth, will do anything to save his fortune. When he announces that he has found love again and is ready to wed, the ultimate rebellion begins.
About ELATE
ELATE (Emmanuel Lutheran Actors Ensemble) originated in the spring of 1984 with the initial production of the “The Miracle Worker”. ELATE shows were originally produced on the stage of the Parish Hall of Laurel Hall School. In June of 1991, the group converted a little used lecture hall in the basement of Emmanuel Lutheran Church’s administration building at 6020 Radford Avenue, North Hollywood, Ca into the Lincoln Stegman Theater. This lecture hall became ELATE’s main stage. ELATE has produced over 100 shows at Parish Hall and the Lincoln Stegman Theater. “The Miser” will be our 112th production.
