[NoHo Arts District, CA] – Los Angeles Theatre Initiative’s production of The C Word by Sarah Lina Sparks heads to the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2025.
About The C Word
Back by popular demand! The C Word is a radical awakening to the extreme objectification, competition, and overall nonsense women face today. This play explores the hypothesis: All women Hate themselves with a capital H. Trapped in a museum while waiting to interview for an Associate Curator position, five young women must select a tribute to fight a terrifying C-word monster. In a reality where women are constantly pitted against each other, what must we learn about ourselves to truly know and love one another?
A radical journey of self-discovery and sisterhood in the face of a C-WORD MONSTER!
Speaking of the creation of the show, director Claire Houghton Renoe says, “Sarah Lina’s writing thoughtfully investigates what it takes for a woman to be seen as deserving of respect. She explores how we as women evaluate one another as worthy or unworthy. Hating girls who have that thing we’ve always wanted. OR hating girls who have that thing we also hate in ourselves. Every time I’ve read The C Word, a new moment has struck me. ‘Wow. I thought I was the only one who felt like that’”
