Shakespeare in Love

[NoHo Arts District, CA] –Los Angeles Pierce College Theatre will conclude its 2023-2024 Season beginning March 3 with the raucous and romantic comedy of errors, Shakespeare in Love, directed by Shaheen Vaaz, running May 3 -12.

Shakespeare in Love, Lee Hall’s stage adaptation of Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard’s screenplay, begins as young Will Shakespeare has writer’s block … the deadline for his new play is fast approaching but he’s in desperate need of inspiration. That is, until he finds his muse – Viola. Based on the Academy Award-winning film, this critically-acclaimed stage version is set against a bustling backdrop of mistaken identity, ruthless scheming and backstage bickering that serve to remind us that all the world’s a stage and love is unrehearsed.

LAPC Theatre’s production is directed by Shaheen Vaaz. 

The Cast

The cast includes Donna Accardo, Grant Asner, Johnny Birke, Melinda Birke, Deniz Boysan, Mason Davis, Farbod Farrokhnezhad, Robin Flores, Sofia Giraldo, Joshua Gould, Amelia Miller, Carl Miller, Fiona Morris, Clyde Sandoval, Echo Smith, Ryan Snyders, Alany Soils-Coleman, Ali Suliman, Andrew Tafur, Julian Thompson and Dale Van Slyke.

The Team

The production features scenic and lighting design by Michael Gend, costume design by Eileen Gizienski and sound design by DJ Medina. Marc Pritchett is the fight choreographer, Daniele Rangel and Madeleine Mckay are the assistant directors and Sasha Santa Cruz is the stage manager. 

Shakespeare in Love will open in the LAPC Performing Arts Mainstage on the Pierce College campus on Friday, May 3 and continue through Sunday, May 12. Performance times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are priced at $15 for students and seniors and $20 for general admission. Free parking is conveniently located in parking lot #6 on the Pierce College campus (6201 Winnetka Ave., Woodland Hills, CA, 91371), adjacent to the Performing Arts Center.
