Recommended Reading for Girls centers on Amy Saunders who returns home to help her mother through a round of chemotherapy. She and her sister, Jackie, find four unexpected guests in their childhood home. They meet the heroines, Sara Crewe from A Little Princess, Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables, Heidi from Heidi. girl detective based on the character of Nancy Drew, as they sort through their problems. With the help of teen sleuth Penny Parker, girl detective based on the character from Nancy Drew, can the Saunders women become heroines of their own stories? Recommended Reading for Girls is a winning love letter to family and literature brimming with humor and heart.
About ELATE
ELATE (Emmanuel Lutheran Actors Ensemble) originated in the spring of 1984 with the initial production of The Miracle Worker. ELATE shows were originally produced on the stage of the Parish Hall of Laurel Hall School. In June of 1991, the group converted a little-used lecture hall in the basement of Emmanuel Lutheran Church’s administration building at 602 Radford Avenue, North Hollywood, CA into the Lincoln Stegman Theater. This lecture hall became ELATE’s main stage. ELATE has produced over 100 shows at Parish Hall and the Lincoln Stegman Theater.
