About DreamWorks THE PRINCE OF EGYPT: THE MUSICAL
THE PRINCE OF EYGPT: THE MUSICAL is based on the Book of Exodus, with songs from the 1998 DreamWorks animation film of the same name. As the story unfolds, audience members will journey through the wonders of Ancient Egypt as two young men, Moses and Ramses, raised together as brothers in a kingdom of privilege, find themselves suddenly divided by a secret past. One must rule as Pharaoh, the other must rise up and free his true people; both face a destiny that will change history forever.
With sweeping music, powerful storytelling, and a cast of 22, this production delivers an epic Broadway-caliber experience in an intimate setting.
Josefina López, founding artistic director of CASA 0101 Theater said: “My dream of starting my own theater 25 years ago has flourished successfully over the years to bring us to this point where we are presenting one of the most epic stories of all time on our stage. I am so proud of our artistic work and overjoyed. Here’s to the next 25 years!”
“This production will amaze audiences. It is truly a Broadway caliber play in an intimate theater setting,“ said Emmanuel Deleague, producer and executive director of CASA 0101 Theater. “I am very grateful for Rigo Tejeda’s big vision and the entire cast and crew’s dedication to breathe life into this epic story. But beyond the spectacle of this production, the story is what matters, locating your moral compass and having the courage to act in the face of adversity and fear. I believe this play will leave our audiences inspired and it is a fitting way to close out our 25th Anniversary Season.”
Director Rigo Tejeda said, “I am beyond excited to be directing this classic story based on the Book of Exodus as a staged musical. I remember as a child always eagerly looking forward to watching the film, The Ten Commandments, on television and being awed by the production values of the storytelling. That sense of wonderment and pageantry through the marriage of glorious music, choreography, costumes, sets and special effects is what audiences who come to see this production will experience.”
“There will be over 60 costumes in this new production designed and/or assembled by Tony Iniguez, costume designer for RuPaul’s Drag Race, which has won 27 Primetime Emmy Awards,” said Abel Alvarado, producer of DreamWorks THE PRINCE OF EGYPT: THE MUSICAL, “Tony Iniguez’s creations have also appeared on Bravo’s Botched, Next Top Model and Saturday Night Live. Iniguez has dressed stars like Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain and Beyonce.”

About CASA 0101 Theater
CASA 0101 Theater, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded 25 years ago by Founding Artistic Director, Josefina López, author of Real Women Have Curves, in 2000 to fulfill her vision of bringing art and live theater programs to Boyle Heights. From its humble beginnings in a former bridal shop, CASA 0101 Theater has established itself as a leading arts venue for Los Angeles’ East Side, currently offering year round theatrical productions and classes in dramatic writing and acting for youth and adults. CASA 0101 Theater is dedicated to providing vital arts, cultural, and educations programs in theatre, digital filmmaking, art and dance – to Boyle Heights, thereby nurturing the future storytellers of Los Angeles. CASA 0101 is named such, as casa means house of home in Spanish. 0’s and 1’s are the binary language computers use to operate. CASA 0101 Theater was founded at the dawn of the digital age, when digital cameras started appearing and moviemaking became accessible to more people. Early on Josefina López taught digital video classes. Though the organization subsequently focused its energies on theatre and not digital filmmaking, the name stuck.
