[NoHo Arts District, CA] – It’s All A Joke, written and performed by Marissa Fennell and directed by Andrew Ceglio, heads to Whitefire Theatre’s Solofest 2026 on Sunday, February 22.
About It’s All A Joke
After her stand-up show in Los Angeles, a comic settles into her nightly routine at home until a world apocalypse hits outside her apartment. She then embarks on a life-threatening comedic journey of trying to get to her parents’ home in Montana in hopes they are still alive. Along the way, she takes an awkward van ride, gets rescued by doomsday preppers, learns to tie knots, and tries to find her place in this ever-changing world where creatives are no longer needed. However, just because the world stops needing her doesn’t mean she stops laughing. Throughout her journey, she copes with her changing circumstances by creating different comedic personas and writing jokes that she improvises on the spot while imagining herself at an open mic. Even during this devastating experience, she is still reminded that if you look hard enough, there’s funny in everything.
With the hilarious writing of Marissa Fennell and brilliant direction of Andrew Ceglio, we get to piece together what it feels like to be an artist in the ever-changing definition of artistry. Because when the world ends, do we stop creating? No. We just pretend to talk to a fake audience.
TRIGGER WARNING: Explosions and gunshot sounds in the first 15 min.
