[NoHo Arts District, CA] – Rotation Theatre Company opens its 2026–27 season with Neil Simon’s romantic comedy Barefoot in the Park, directed by Lindsay Jane and running November 6–22.
About Barefoot in the Park
Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she’s a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. Their new apartment is her most recent find – too expensive with bad plumbing and in need of a paint job. After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic, Velasco, where everything that can go wrong does. Paul just doesn’t understand Corie, as she sees it. He’s too staid, too boring, and she just wants him to be a little more spontaneous. Running “barefoot in the park” would be a start…
Barefoot in the Park is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
Director Lindsay Jane on Love and Marriage
“There’s something so magical about the ‘opposites attract’ trope, especially when it is deconstructed and executed as genuinely as it is here,” said director Lindsay Jane, reflecting on what drew her to the play. “This story is such a delicious illustration of learning your partner’s love languages, as well as your own—and this was long before ‘love languages’ were even a part of the vernacular. The plot revels in the growing pains that so many couples go through and celebrates the strength and perspective and even deeper love that comes from them.”
Rotation Theatre Company invites you to trade the daily hustle and bustle for a six-flight climb, a hole in the skylight, and a little newlywed bliss. Join them for an evening (or afternoon) of mismatched temperaments, blind dates, little pink pills, and the delightful chaos of learning to live—and love—together. Because sometimes, happily ever after starts with a very small, very cold apartment.
