Old School Skinny creator Luckie gave us an overview of what makes this class fun and just plain good for us. Hope to see you on the dance floor.
Why did you start Old School Skinny?
It wasnt a conscious effort until I was a year into actually teaching. I happened to hear that my church was opening a dance studio to offer free classes to the community so I signed up. Even though I dance on a daily basis, I thought it would be an amazing opportunity to build confidence and self love through dance in a real 90s House Party vibe. The music is so important because it bridges generations and gives them a chance to party together. From there, more people just started coming to share in the experience!
What will people expect from the NoHo Plaza class?
Back in the day, we used to have huge block parties in the neighborhood I grew up in. There’s a feeling of community togetherness that allows people to interact with eachother differently. Thats how it’ll feel in NoHo Plaza. Dancing in the streets, enjoying life, not at all worried about who’s looking.
What’s your favorite part about being in NoHo?
I love being in NoHo because every demographic of artist lives in our community. We ooze creativity and genuinely appreciate people in their respective craft. It’s great to see it happen on a daily basis all within a few blocks.
Groove is in the heart!
