The NoHo Arts District is getting a new mural by artists Steve Martinez and Sick One
The NoHo Arts District is getting a new mural! San Fernando Valley based artists Steve Martinez (IG: @stevemartinezart) from UGLAR Works and Sick One (IG: @sicktlz) are beautifying the back wall of one of NoHo’s oldest restaurants, the Eclectic, with a figurative, colorful mural sponsored by 11:11 A Creative Collective. Just walk down east on Magnolia Blvd. near Lankershim and if you see them painting in the lot between the NoHo Arts Center and Starbucks, walk up and say hi! We’re so excited to see more public art in the NoHo Arts District, and thanks to dedicated artists and local non profit arts organizations like 11:11 ACC the community gets a bit brighter.
About the mural:
This mural is a celebration of life, a celebration of resilience. The portrait is that of 13 year old Frankie Julian Lopez Jr. who was just recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Despite this grim diagnosis, Frankie has been an exemplary testament of remaining positive, happy and living life to the fullest. The artists have been inspired by this young man’s resilience and grace through this difficult time. They wanted to honor him and celebrate his life, as well serve as a reminder to celebrate life in all of its color, complexity and magic.
