Blimey! What a gorgeous track. Nick de la Hoyde has a truly beautiful voice, soft, emotional, authentic.
His new single “Animals” is about love of course, but with a bit of a twist. “Human beings can learn a lot from animals, and real, unconditional love is the biggest lesson you can learn from them and one that we should put into practice in our own lives,” he says.
Well, you get no argument from me that our animals love us far better than any human ever could, but this song is about longing for love a like that, limitless and unconditional, but from another human and being smart enough to recognize it when you find it. The kind of love so impossibly rare and well worth the wait.
It’s a great song. Gorgeous production, spiraling, spacious, waves of lightness washing over you, full of sublime longing. The video is inspired too… brilliant in fact. His music, Australian based, is a lovely blend of clever, humorous lyrics and bouncy, catchy and wonderfully intelligent melody. Anthemic but in an understated way. R&B in space.
Dazzling, hopeful, synthy, frothy, pure and free from formulaic histrionics….absolutely LOVED IT!!!!
