It also has great roads along national forests, sometimes with wildlife, coastlines, and looming mountains. Whether you are new in Los Angeles or looking for new places to take your motorcycle, there are spots that you must visit.
Sunset to pacific coast highway
This is an easy trail, perfect even for armature riders. It is also one of the most beautiful, with different landmarks and sceneries, such as the Beverly Hills Hotel. The final prize comes when you get to the Pacific Coast Highway, which gives you a first-hand experience of the cool and relaxing ocean breeze.
Sunset Boulevard is the best place to start the ride, and that takes you to the coast. Many people begin the ride through the wider Beverly Hills roads at Highland and Sunset, past the 405 to more windy and fun curves.
You can also ride through the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) to the Santa Monica pier, allowing you to view the sunset on the breathtaking Ferris Wheel. That gives you the perfect scenery to take Instagram-worthy photos.
Neptune’s Net
This is another easy trail, and the wider roads allow a smooth ride and peaceful experience away from the busy roads. It goes along the PCH north of Malibu, close to the Ventura County border.
The popular restaurant is a go-to spot for motorcycle enthusiasts because it has designated parking spots for motorbikes and delicious fish and chips baskets.
Griffith Park
This easy mini-trail takes you through a breathtaking mountain in the middle of LA. You can begin your ride on the north side, then take Griffith Park Drive. That takes you through a green and woodsy setting past an abandoned zoo spot.
You can turn right towards Los Feliz Boulevard, east through Crystal Springs Drive, to Hillhurst Boulevard Park. The route then connects to North Vermont Road, which takes you to the Griffith Observatory.
That gives you a perfect view of the James Dean statue, and you can go back to the city through the Western Canyon Road.
Angeles Crest highway
This moderately challenging route is approximately half an hour north of Downtown LA. Here is a Highway 2 entrance that takes you to Angeles Crest Highway through wide and winding roads that lead to the Angeles National Forest.
The best thing about this route is that you will find other motorists, making it more fun. You can also stop at Newscomb’s Ranch, a popular stop for riders along that route.
Mulholland Drive
If you want to explore city life and enjoy your bike ride, this route in the heart of LA is a must-take. It runs through some mountains, making it suitable for people with more riding experience. However, it gives you an excellent view of Hollywood plus the valley.
You can start your ride at Mulholland and Cahuenga past the 405 freeway, which takes you into the scenic hills above Eninco. That is another place to take breathtaking photos.
When returning, you can take several canyon roads, including the Coldwater Canyon, Laurel Canyon, or Beverly Glen, which take you through monumented LA neighborhoods back to city life.
The Snake to the Rock Store
This is another moderate to difficult trail but by far the most popular motorcycle trail in the city. It is a tight and windy Mulholland Highway section in Malibu that goes up to the Rock Store, one of the famous motorcycle bar hangouts.
The important thing to note when taking this route is that it differs from Mulholland Drive.
Safe Riding
Before heading out on your bike, be sure to familiarize yourself with California motorcycle laws. Some of the most common causes of motorcycle accidents include lane splitting, dangerous left turns, road hazards and risky behaviors such as excessive speed or riding while impaired.
