[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts 2026 Hollywood Fringe Festival review of Fringe Management LLC’s Mike Blaha: Pivotal Nomad, a hilarious solo comedy about travel, humanity and life on the road.
Once again at the Hollywood Fringe, Mike Blaha brings his irrepressible and highly unique humor to his life, traveling as a full-time task, and the state of the world in general.
Mike is an extremely well-traveled man, having put all his stuff in storage several years ago and committed to journeying from fringe festival to fringe festival, whenever and wherever the word ‘fringe’ took him, actually.
From the far-flung parts of Europe that time forgot to Australia, all over the states and places on the planet that few of us knew still existed. On planes, trains, automobiles and some very dodgy buses to spend nights at dodgier still airbnbs, hotels and motels, Mike Blaha has simply seen it all.
But while he travels, he thinks. He sees far more than those of us who are tied to various things like houses and spouses and jobs…how boring. It’s his thoughts on the world and the people he meets that make up the absolutely hilarious Mike Blaha: Pivotal Nomad.
Mike is tall, very tall, and I think his extreme height makes visualizing him wedged into bus seats and too-short single beds in out-of-the-way places even funnier. Although probably not for him. He has a profoundly comforting way of saying the obvious part out loud. Pointing to the fly in the ointment and the Republican elephant in the room and finding the joke in the ridiculous. He is a gentle comic giant. And not just in height. He has been literally almost everywhere and so his giantism is global, not just linear.
I love his shows and always search for them at the Hollyood Fringe. His audiences are always filled with disparate folk, young and old, cool and not so. And it’s such a wildly eclectic bunch, all tittering away at his fumbles through his days and his brilliant asides. It gives a person hope, really. That if this huge variety of fringers can find something in common to laugh at in Mike, then maybe there’s life in the old world yet.
Honestly, any time you can find Mike Blaha wherever you may be in the world – look for the world ‘fringe’ up on a wall in a pub somewhere – do yourself a favor and see his show. It will make you believe in humans again…if only for a short time. No height pun intended.
