Controller Ron Galperin’s Online Map Showcases Latinx Contributions to L.A.

L.A. Controller Ron Galperin celebrated the start of Latinx Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15) by releasing “Unidos: Latinx en Los Ángeles,” an online tool that maps places central to L.A.’s Latinx population. Galperin’s map features 23 locations across the City and allows the public to take a virtual, guided tour through the history of Latinx Los Angeles.

Galperin’s tool also showcases the contributions of Latinx City employees with a dashboard that highlights data about employees who identify as Latino/a or Hispanic. The dashboard is powered by 2021 payroll data.

“The Latinx community has played an integral role in shaping the history and culture of Los Angeles since its founding,” said Controller Ron Galperin. “I hope Angelenos from all walks of life use this story map and dashboard year-round to learn more about the contributions and history of L.A.’s Latinx communities.”

“Unidos: Latinx en Los Ángeles” is part of Galperin’s mission to use open data, mapping and innovative online tools to promote equity, foster civic engagement and connect Angelenos to their City.
