Kitchen; white or wrong

For the last few years an all-white kitchen or close to it seems to be everywhere.

White cabinets paired with stainless steel appliances and subway tile could be found in almost every design magazine or showcase house.  While a white kitchen is still the most popular today, there are trends using colored cabinets close in tow.

Gray seems to slowly becoming the new white. A lighter shade of gray can create a simple and clean lined look.  Still using a gray stone counter and white subway tile allows for the same classic feel.  But take that a step further.  Add visual interest using two colors in the kitchen cabinetry.  Using two shades of the same color not only updates the look but takes the kitchen to a whole new level.  I find this to be a safe way for some to design with an ‘out of the box’ plan.

For those of you who may be a bit daring, try a different color on the island if you have one.   Painted or stained with a darker color from the rest will create huge visual interest and delineate the two areas.  It allows the island area to make the statement and set the tone for the kitchen.

No matter how you choose to design your kitchen, make it your own.  Have a much fun as you like.  As for white kitchens, it will always be my favorite no matter what the trend states.
