It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play

I thoroughly enjoyed “It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play,” which I saw this past Sunday afternoon at Theatre Unleashed in NoHo.

It was my first visit there and I am looking forward to going back. This production is perfect, good old fashion, holiday entertainment for the entire family. The cast is excellent and the story is very enjoyable, heartwarming and well worth seeing. The show plays til December 17.

It is performed in conjunction with A Very DIE HARD Christmas as part of their Naughty and Nice Holiday rep and returns with a whole new cast of colorful and talented performers. It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play is well adapted by Jim Martyka and centers on struggling New York City radio station KAWL in the 1940s on the verge of going out of business. Their radio production of Frank Capra’s “It’s a Wonderful Life” is destined to be their last but, like in the classic movie version, it is the holiday season and beautiful miracles are abound. The feel-good, homespun show is full of laughs, drama, fine singing, and good values and is well directed by Jenn Scuderi Crafts.

It plays Thursdays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 3 pm at The Belfry Stage Upstairs at the Crown, 11031 Camarillo Street.

I highly recommend it. It is a pleasant trip to the past (great costumes) and a definite audience pleaser full of hope and good cheer.
