[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts theatre review of NEO Ensemble’s 25th-anniversary production of “Inappropriate!” at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2023.
“Inappropriate” is a classic sketch comedy play. Five sketches written by the performers and writers of NEO Ensemble, spanning such hilarious and cringeworthy topics as tawdry gameshows, embarrassingly loud pharmacists, flatulence-filled first dates, Nazi-loving theatre writers and the ultimate Hollywood funeral…
It’s brash, impolite, fast paced and furiously funny. What begins as a wince and a squirm often ends in applause. No apologies. No regrets. No political correctness…this is typical satirical fare. Well written, enthusiastically performed and a mixture of shocking, rude and brutally honest… and proud of it.
This is NEO Ensembles’ 25th year of existence. A theatre company with over 100 members, including writers and directors as well as a wonderfully diverse group of actors. I can only imagine what a laugh they must all have working together.
There are only a couple more performances to catch…so get to it!
