These dancers speak from the heart about why voting is a form of self-expression just like dancing. They believe that democracy is strongest when young people participate. They hope to use their dance skills to inspire other young people to register to vote, to vote, and to participate in democracy.

Kicking off the series is Tin Nguyen; sharing his experience of growing up in Vietnam fantasizing about life in America to having it become a reality.

“I vote because I can really make a difference.” – Tin Nguyen

ANTICS SOLIDARITY STATEMENT

Antics stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and the fight for racial justice. We believe it’s our responsibility to undo racism. Hip Hop originated in marginalized Black, Latinx, and Immigrant communities in the Bronx during the 1970s and has become one of America’s greatest cultural creations. We are committed to dismantling White supremacy, patriarchy, and the systems of oppression that gave rise to Hip Hop in the first place.

We also believe it’s important to recognize the global significance of Hip Hop culture and to welcome people of all identities who wish to learn about and create Hip Hop with integrity. Anyone can love and appreciate Hip Hop. Anyone can study Hip Hop. And anyone who works hard and finds inspiration can create dope Hip Hop art.

Antics’ mission is to empower people of all backgrounds through hip hop dance. We believe in collective liberation and the intersectionality of the struggles for LGBTQ rights, Immigrant rights, Indigenous rights, Women’s rights, Environmental Justice and Science. We support the protesters and activists fighting for justice across all of these movements. We are committed to listening to, working alongside, and amplifying the voices of those who are at the forefront of these struggles.
