[NoHo Arts District, CA] – Meet North Hollywood High School senior and drama club member, Ghino Lee, one of the creators of Husky Howl Fest! – an unforgettable night of fun and frights only on November 2 and 3.
About Husky Howl Fest!:
Prepare for a spooktacular night of chills and thrills at North Hollywood High School’s first-ever Husky Howl Fest! They’re transforming their campus into a hauntingly entertaining wonderland, complete with live music, fun activities, and a brand-new haunted house experience that will leave you screaming for more.
Event Highlights:
🏰 Angelenos (Haunted House): It’s the year 2099. Climate catastrophe transforms Los Angeles into an apocalyptic death trap. In the midst of the disaster, the top 0.1% of wealth team up together to form an evil corporation, Dark Harvest Labs, to control the minds of the people “farm-to-plate” style. Do you have what it takes to venture into the depths of “Angelenos,” and make it out alive?
🎵 Live Music: Get into the groove with our lineup of talented local bands and musicians. From classic rock to contemporary hits, the music will keep you dancing all night long.
Meet Ghino Lee, one of the creatures of the event. Let’s support our local North Hollywood High School Drama Club and future creators!
Who created the Husky Howl Fest!? Why?
I (Ghino Lee) created the event alongside other Drama Club members because our school (North Hollywood High School) is currently undergoing a massive renovation project which unfortunately meant our auditorium went under demolition. The theater is Drama Club’s home, where we have done countless productions and without it, our club’s future seemed bleak. However, with my interest in pursuing the Haunt industry, and a little push from chemistry teacher, Mr. David Cho, I was able to pull together the ambition to start figuring out logistics. The immediate venue of choice was settled, our high school’s agricultural area, for its lush greenery and outdoorsy charm. Meetings with school administration started in January of 2023 leading to our show dates now in November. (Although much of the project was driven by my own ambition, I can’t say I’m completing this project all on my own. I’d like to thank Ms. Sara Buccolo (our theater teacher and club sponsor) Mariam Tutuyan (my fellow Drama Club Co-President) Ari Reynoso (my best friend) Jamie Pugsley (my other best friend) Mr. Lepore (the Agricultural Area teacher) and countless others.)

What should visitors expect?
Visitors should expect a Haunted Maze based on an original storyline, with jumpscares, theatrical lighting, fog, and loud noises. We tried our best to create an immersive world, where characters interact with the guest. When guests exit the Haunted Maze, they are greeted with an area with Live Music to entertain them throughout the evening.
Does this help any department of the school?
Husky Howl Fest is organized by North Hollywood High School’s Drama Club, but it also helps support North Hollywood High School’s Drama Department. North Hollywood High School’s Drama Classes and Clubs make up the department and although small, we are growing at a rapid pace offering more and more each year. Simply attending our event helps us achieve our club’s mission of giving students “real-world experiences,” in which we believe the best form of learning takes place. With our presence on campus increasing every year, we were able to open up an after school “tech club,” which focuses on teaching the technical side of theater from building, sculpting, and projecting.
What are your career plans after school?
As a current senior in high school, I’d love to go into the field of crafting experiences for others. Themed entertainment and immersive theater are all industries that are analogous to my interests and career pursuits. I believe going into a theater background will help me understand all the facets of what it means to build a sensory world and to deliver meaningful stories. I’m currently deep in the college application process, as a I hope to attend a four-year institution.

Anything you’d like to highlight?
This whole event is all student-led and student-run. This is a very important philosophy for Drama Club. We try to only have adult participate when it is absolutely necessary. Everything you see and touch was made, designed, and organized by students.
