How to decorate for the holidays 2017

How to decorate for the holidays

Each year we struggle with how to decorate for the holidays.  Do we stay with time-lasting traditions, or try something new and innovative?

Either way, it can be a long and arduous task.  So this year I’ve decided to keep my decorations classic and simple.  I thought about taking my decorating all the way back to when I was younger, but I don’t want the silver tree this year.  I’m opting for the more traditional look with the real tree, beautiful garland and vintage-style ornaments.

Of course, I’ll add my own twist this year.

The Christmas Tree

I’ll be adding lots of red ornaments to my tree. Pairing that with my collection of Hummel ornaments along with beautiful gold garland and a plaid tree skirt.

The Christmas Wreath

I usually have two wreaths on the door. One on the inside and one on the outside.  Both are simple in design.  The outer one is a simple red wreath with pine cones and some garland.  The inner wreath is one with a vintage feel.

The Christmas Mantle

The mantle gets a lot of attention. The love fresh green garland all across the top. I add in more pine cones, red and gold ornaments, a few angels and a few candles.  And I can’t forget the toy soldiers, too.

The Christmas Dining Table

The dining table centerpiece also gets a smaller wreath with a think candle in the middle. This one is usually in a hurricane type of container.

My guest bath downstairs isn’t forgotten. I add simple red, green and gold hand towels in a basket on the counter.  Since I actually have a bit of counter space, I put my smaller Charlie Brown tree in there.

.The Christmas Bannister

And lastly, my bannister always gets the green garland trim with small red bows, finishing the end with a large one.

These are just a few things and ideas I’m happy to pass along.  Take what you like and make your own.

Always have fun when designing in general, for holidays and or a special occasion.

Happy Holidays!
