[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts theatre review of Write Act Repertory’s Hot Summer Nights – The Musicals (2026), produced by Artistic Director John Lant and producer Darrin Yalacki, playing July 11 through August 1 at the Brickhouse Theatre in the NoHo Arts District.
Write Act Rep is back again with another group of original one-acts, and this time they are all musicals, hurray! Six stories based around the theme of hot, hot summers.

When I think of the heat of summer, I am often transported to a hazy childhood, filled with endless summer days. First loves, first losses, first big mistakes. It seems as if summer is the time when everything is heightened. As if time is running out for us all and the stakes are at their highest.
This particular group of new plays is a mixture of themes. How death can almost transcend time and space. Dealing with the crippling anxiety of being in front of an audience for the first time. Finding a champion in the strangest of places. The drama of trying to get an appointment for the dreaded Real ID and just when you think you have escaped by the skin of your teeth, karma bites back.

With an exceptional cast of writers, singers and misfits, every single show is as good as the last! Funny, clever, thoughtful and poignant. The music is uplifting and hilarious and it gives gravitas to every story. The songs enhance the performances and really showcase the enormous talent of this always wonderful theatre company in the heart of NoHo.
I always look forward to the shows at the Brickhouse Theatre, the little theatre that could… It’s a magical place, full of possibilities and memories and the love of theatre that each and every soul brings with them to anoint the space.
Hot Summer Nights – The Musicals (2026) is another fun and inviting show full of love and passion for theatre and storytelling.
Bravo, Write Act Rep! Loved it!!
