Hollywood Homes: 5 of the best celebrity houses to visit in LA

LA – the home of the rich and famous.

Around every corner of this city in California, you’ll find mansions, many of which are home to A-List celebrities. The most expensive – and largest – home in America is situated in LA and went on sale last spring for a whopping $500 million. The lucky owner of this property will enjoy a nightclub, beauty salon, casino and even a jellyfish tank – all from the comfort of their home.

There are many guided tours available that will take you to see the celebrities’ homes but you might want to pick up a car hire in Los Angeles and explore yourself, at your own pace.

If it’s the latter, then here are five that you won’t want to miss:

John Legend and Crissy Teigen – Beverly Hills

John Legend, recently named People’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’, and his hilarious wife Crissy Teigen, purchased their mansion in Beverly Hills, which was once owned by Rhianna, for an estimated $14.1 million in 2016. Their modern home is open-plan and across three floors boasts a theatre, billiard room, a gym plus five bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows allow them to enjoy the beautiful views across the city and ocean from both inside as well as outside.

Angelina Jolie – Los Feliz

Now Angelina is no longer part of ‘Brangelina’, she has bought her own home in Laughlin Park in Los Feliz. The $24.95 million price tag has made it the most expensive property to sell in this area. The property, which was built in 1913, is still reminiscent of ‘old Hollywood’ but has recently undergone six years of renovations. Inside there are six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms as well as a library, while outside there is a pool and a separate building that houses a gym and guesthouse. Angelina’s celebrity neighbours include Kristen Stewart, will.i.am and Natalie Portman.

Beyonce and Jay Z – Bel Air

The architect that built LA’s most expensive mansion is also behind Jay Z and Beyonce’s home in Bel Air, that the power couple purchased it in 2017 after a three-year search. They paid $88 million for the modern mansion – well below the $120 million asking price but still the highest-selling transaction in the city that year. Their hillside home sits behind iron gates and features 11 bathrooms, 8 bedrooms and a 15-car garage as well as four pools and a basketball court. It’s also a smart home and has bulletproof windows from floor to ceiling so they can enjoy the incredible views.

Simon Cowell – Malibu

You may have seen inside Simon Cowell’s Malibu home; he recently invited the Celebrity X Factor contestants there for Judges’ Houses. This beachfront mansion, which set him back £18.7 million, benefits from wonderful views of the beautiful coastline. It features seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms as well as accommodation for staff and guest suite with a private entrance. Plus, there is a tennis court and a pool – which you’ll have seen on screen – and a spa. As well as taking in the view from the terrace, Simon can look out on the ocean from his bedroom thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows. There is a private drive leading to the property which he shares with his partner, Lauren Silverman.

Taylor Swift – Beverly Hills

Taylor Swift owns homes across America. Although her main house, where she spends most of her time, is in Nashville. She did actually own two homes in Beverly Hills before selling one last year. The second one was purchased by the ‘Shake It Off’ singer in 2015. This home alone has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a pool, tennis court and guest house for when her girl gang comes to visit. The $25 million property boasts breathtaking views across California.

You may not be able to step inside the homes of the rich and famous, but you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the outside, enabling you to see how the other half live, with your own eyes.
