The Hollywood Fringe Festival partners with Gothenburg Fringe for 2021 Fringe Abroad Program, an international exchange that seeks to connect members of Fringe communities around the world.
The Hollywood Fringe Festival partners with Gothenburg Fringe and, on August 28, will feature a livestream show from the Gothenburg Fringe program, “Mask and Man,” a sound and visual experience focusing on themes of identity and oppression. The show is performed in a concept of “natural opera” with the aim to go beyond genres to come to the core of what the expression needs.
“The past year and a half has inspired a whole new way of thinking in the arts world, with artists forced to create projects and present them in different ways,” said Gothenburg Festival Director Chris O’Reilly.
Through this exchange program, Hollywood Fringe participants can get a glimpse into the Gothenburg Fringe Festival in Sweden, celebrating its sixth year.
“At Gothenburg Fringe, our focus has always been on presenting our performances in unusual and unique spaces and we’re taking the same approach to our digital days this year, collaborating with artists creating engaging and immersive digital experiences,” said O’Reilly. “We can’t wait to exchange artists and collaborate with the innovative and well-established Hollywood Fringe.”
Also, Gothenburg Fringe will feature a production from the Hollywood Fringe as part of their digital prologue on September 4 -7, 2021. The production will be selected by the Gothenburg Fringe Festival and will be live-streamed from the program’s partnering venue, The Broadwater.
“The Hollywood Fringe Festival’s Abroad Program is possible because of the global community brought together by Holly Lombardo and Cath Mattos of the World Fringe Network,” said Lois Neville, Operations Director of the Hollywood Fringe. “We are thrilled to launch this new program and plan to continue to expand its reach for years to come.”
“Mask and Man” will be livestreamed as a part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
Saturday, August 28 at 12pm PDT.

About The Hollywood Fringe Festival
The Hollywood Fringe Festival is an annual, open-access, community-derived event celebrating freedom of expression and collaboration in the performing arts community.
Participation in the Hollywood Fringe is completely open and uncensored. This free-for-all approach underlines the festival’s mission to be a platform for artists without the barrier of a curating body. By opening the gates to anyone with a vision, the festival can exhibit the most diverse and cutting-edge points-of-view the world has to offer. Additionally, by creating an environment where artists must self-produce their work, the Fringe motivates its participants to cultivate a spirit of entrepreneurialism in the arts.
