If you are a fan of musicals, then you will absolutely adore “Holiday of Lights – A Cabaret Celebration of Music” currently playing at the Brickhouse Theatre in NoHo.

Michael Antin was once a tax attorney, but try not to hold that against him.  It’s hardly the usual background for a composer I’ll grant you, but what he might lack in showbiz pizazz he makes up for with musical chops and heart.

When Michael retired from his career in taxes he returned to his first love…music.  Encouraged by his piano teacher, he found a home in songwriting and, before long, he had written four full-length musicals, many of which have premiered in NoHo before moving on to New York.

T51 5 EDIT Michael Antin

This particular extravaganza is a retrospective of sorts.

A revisit to many of his most popular hits from his plays.  With the fabulous talents of William Grundler and Dana Shaw, frequent stars of his work, Michael narrates the fascinating journey through his work, regularly interrupted in the nicest possible way by William and Dana bursting into his wonderful songs.

With settings as varied as New York after the towers fell and war-torn Berlin during Wold War II, Michael draws from his own deep interest in the world around him and profound moments in history, creating stories around what moves him the most, the strength of the human heart under the most difficult of circumstance.

The songs are funny and moving, toe tapping and memorable.  The stories behind them are just as good.  This is a wonderful opportunity to meet a creative soul with a love for music, theatre and storytelling, and you may even get the chance to sing along!

I recommend you hurry up and get your tickets…this isn’t a long run!
