[NoHo Arts District, CA] – Sign your child up for the Young Performing Artist Lab (YPALL) at the Lankershim Arts Center, running June 16 – July 18.
About Young Performing Artist Lab (YPALL):
The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) Performing Arts Division (PERF) has commissioned K.E.E.P. (Kid’s Education Experience Program) and Interact Theatre Company’s INTERPLAY to facilitate this year’s youth summer camp program: Young Performing Artist Lab (YPALL) at the Lankershim Arts Center.
A fun and exploratory way for youth ages 7 to 16 years of age to engage in the performing arts–theatre, dance, music, film, and culture–both on stage and behind the scenes, this program runs for five weeks in the summer. It is a Monday through Friday program that starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. (extended care is available for a nominal fee from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) This year’s Young Performing Artist Lab (YPALL) runs from June 16, 2025 to July 18, 2025 with a culminating performance on Saturday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m.
Youth are divided into two groups based on their ages: Creative Crew Campers (CCC) for ages 7 to 11 years old, facilitated by K.E.E.P. (Kid’s Education Experience Program), and Teen Theatrical Trainees (TTT) for ages 12 to 16 years old, facilitated by Interact Theatre Company’s INTERPLAY.
CCC is a fun and imaginative introduction to the performing arts, focusing on creativity and confidence-building through dance, voice, acting, costumes, stage makeup, personal storytelling, and comedy monologues. TTT is a teen-centric program focusing on the basics of acting, dance, voice, technical theater (lighting, sound, and video production), and stage management that is accessible to all levels of experience. Both groups will work with their assigned organization to create a culminating performance together. The culmination will be a kid-centric performance showcasing student achievements and creations and will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
