Hansford Prince from Theatre 68 in the NoHo Arts District lands a role on the new Netflix series “From Scratch” starring Zoe Saldana. Hansford will be playing the role of Mervin, the ncle to Amy, Zoe Saldana’s character. 

“From Scratch” is based on the life of an American woman who falls in love with a Sicilian man while studying abroad in Italy. She builds a life with him in the United States and unfortunately loses him to illness. She, (Saldana), takes on the task of raising her daughter alone.

Alongside Zoe Saldana, “From Scratch” will feature Eugenio Mastrandrea, Danielle Deadwyler, Keith David, Kellita Smith, Judith Scott, Lucia Sardo, Paride Benassai, Roberta Rigano and Hansford Prince.  The show is produced under Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine Banner and 3 Arts Entertainment.

The Netflix series is adapted from Tembi Locke’s bestselling memoir “From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home.” The autobiographical romance was selected as Reese’s Book Club, Hello Sunshine May 2019 book pick. Emmy nominated writer-producer and director Nzingha Stewart is set to direct this five-episode series along with the pilot episode.

Hansford Prince, represented by Eris Talent Agency, is a NoHo actor who calls Theatre 68 his home.

He has starred in multiple productions, including “A Time To Kill” (a 2017 Valley Theatre Award winner for Best Play); A Sam Henry Kass production, “Death With Dignity…Comes in a Milkshake” (nominated for Best Actor in a Lead Role); and Oliver Mayer’s “Joe Louis Blues” (in the title role), for which he won a San Francisco Bay Guardian’s Goldie Award. Film credits include “CopyCat,” “Dumbarton Bridge,” “Prospect,” “The Man Next Door” and his television roles include NBC’s “Vision of Murder” and the HBO movie event “Hemmingway and Gelhorn.”  He is currently in development on a Redd Foxx project, playing the lead.
