It’s finally here! After a year of pandemic-era livestreams, Gritty In Pink is returning to the stage, live and in person on Thursday, July 8 at Pitfire Pizza in the NoHo Arts District.

Throughout the pandemic, Pitfire Pizza graciously supported Gritty In Pink by feeding the house band for their IG Live fundraiser shows, which raised thousands of dollars for charity.

It’s only right that Gritty In Pink’s first event back would take place at the neighborhood pizza spot, which boasts a cozy courtyard, firepit and outdoor bar.

The show will also be sponsored by Mackie, powering the sound system, along with supporting partners NoHo Arts District, Local Roots Kombucha, Guitar Girl Magazine, and charity partner LA LGBT Center.

The pop-up show will follow the continuous success of Gritty In Pink’s Gritty Rocks Live (GRL) Instagram Live shows, which they use as a platform to have fundraisers for various non-profit programs such as Charity Bomb, Keep A Breast, Headcount, Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, and many others throughout the past year. Accumulating over 600,000 Instagram impressions for their livestreams, and an artist portfolio of 4 million on Instagram and 7 million on Tiktok, the Gritty community is so excited to return to the stage for their first post-pandemic live show with a live audience!

“The talent, energy and pure joy Gritty Pink brings is the perfect match for our eclectic arts district,” says Lisa Bianconi, editor of www.nohaortsdistrict.com. “We can’t wait for them to take over Pitfire and bring more music to the NoHo Arts District.”

Featuring an all-star female lineup, including hard rock femme fatale Alicia Vigil (Vigil of War/Dragonforce), reggae-soul songstress Beebs (Beebs & Her Moneymakers), emerging Tiktok star Maya Karli, hard rock/metal mainstay VK Lynne (The Spider Accomplice), teenage starlet Cloe Wilder, alt-pop singer/songwriter Jayelle, pop-rock chanteuse Dani Hagan, soul rock diva Bodacious Thang, ukulele-toting singer-songwriter Taylor Morse, guest DJ Mia Fluxxx, and more special guests. Hosting the show is none other than the supernova Shiragirl with house musicians Sabrina Winter (from Love Stallion), and superstar bandmates Rainey P, Alex Windsor, and Constance Antoinette (from Shiragirl). The show will consist of original and cover songs from the featuring line-up and attendees can also look forward to merchandise tables and drink specials.

VK Lynne, singer and community leader, notes: “During the pandemic, we were fortunate to be able to continue performances online, but there is nothing like the raw energy of a live Gritty In Pink show, and we’re excited to bring that back!”

Shira Yevin, Gritty In Pink founder and singer of Shiragirl says, “It is so surreal to finally be able to return to live shows, over 16 months after our last in-person event! We are so grateful to be partnering with Pitfire Pizza, Noho Arts District, and our local community in North Hollywood, where so many musicians call home.”

Shira adds, “Although we were thrilled to grow globally during the last year of livestreams, we cannot wait to come together with our brilliant collective of female musicians to celebrate the world’s comeback of gatherings, in our own backyard.”

To those in the L.A. area, mark your calendars for Thursday, July 8! This event is going to be one for the books. For those not in L.A.- the show will be livestreamed. Stay tuned for more big announcements, including the continuation of Gritty In Pink’s GRL livestreams, as well as the launch of a new online marketplace, for women working in all aspects of the music industry.

Gritty In Pink founder Shira Yevin chatted with us about the July 8 event and NoHo Arts District.

The lineup is awesome! How did you choose the performers?

Great question. These are all women that have been involved in the growing the Gritty community over the past year as we went virtual during the pandemic. Most of them were part of it from day 1, since our launch at The Satellite in early 2020. They have all played our GRL livestreams, helped us spread the word on social media, been active on our private network community, contributed to the scene, and many of them live locally as well. They are all my friends! And, Cloe Wilder is only 15, so we thought it would be a good opportunity to have her come play at an all ages venue, since our shows are often at bars.

What do you like about being in NoHo?

I like that it’s not in Hollywood, but close to Hollywood, ha. I live in Valley Village and it’s our own little pocket of a big city, but feels like a town, with less traffic and easy parking. I love my corner cafe and walks to the park, the charming houses and down-to-earth people.

What would you like to see more of in NoHo?

I would like to see more of a local scene, with musicians and artists supporting each other. More art galleries and music venues/shops would be rad. Maybe more regular events, such as cool monthly and weekly shows and parties.
