[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts music review of Gem FM’s “Con Fusion” album release.

A NoHo Arts music review of Gem FM’s “Con Fusion” album release.

This is the fifth album from retro rock-electronica musical creative Gem FM.

Founder James Freeman’s joyful eclectic style infuses each track with energy and a lovely kind of robotic cinema-scape.

Freeman plays every instrument, sings and produces the album, giving the songs an intimate and intensely personal touch. There are some acoustic moments, the track “Marion Morning” in particular gives Freeman a chance to show off his guitar skills, but for the most part, this album is faithful to its electronic roots.

“Con Fusion” has a gorgeous, very 80s vibe. Esoteric, weirdly atmospheric, rhythmic and oddly organic, despite Freeman’s heavily electronic penchant.

You can dance to everything, even the softer “Marion Morning,” although that’s more of a smoochy slow dance. It’s the kind of album you can put on and let play with the surety that you will enjoy every track as they blissfully morph into each other.

If you love electronica then Gem FM’s “Con Fusion” is right up your android alley!

Favorite track: “Do You Love Me?” Very Depeche Mode!!
