Feminist Ass Man

A NoHo Arts theatre review of Dale Dymkoski’s Feminist Ass Man, at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2025.

[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts theatre review of  Dale Dymkoski’s Feminist Ass Man, at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2025.

There was quite a bit of comedy in the year’s Hollywood Fringe. Not stand-up exactly, more like comedic monologues. Feminist Ass Man is a great example of this genre. Dale Dymkoski’s brilliantly written and performed ode to his world takes on his life in every aspect. All while being hilarious and charming.

There’s another pretty important aspect to Dale, something that’s not at all obvious at first, but is central to his life and all his experiences. Dale is deaf…not entirely, but enough to have a huge impact on his life. He is also a stroke survivor, and both these life-changing experiences are front and centre in this touching and very funny performance. He’s clearly a very experienced stand up and he’s also an actor, so obviously he’s very comfortable on stage. But it’s always an entirely different matter when an actor has to be themselves, with no character to hide behind.

Feminist Ass Man is the story of Dale. How he got to L.A., became an actor, supported himself along the way, and became part of the West Hollywood scene as a straight white man. Well, they say there is room in Hollywood for everyone!

Dale Dymkoski

Dale is a brilliant comedian. He is funny and completely himself. He uses his truth to make us laugh and also tell his fascinating story. Just like the very best comedians, he has a very specific perspective on the world. A unique position, his own unique place in the universe from which to see how everything works and doesn’t work. Of course, it’s always the disfunction and the broken that make the best comedy. There isn’t much humor in perfection, is there?

Dale makes the most of his own disfunction, and that of those around him. While he walks us through his world, he shows us the triumphs and the challenges and he ponders of the state of his life and the world in general. He also touches on dating as a partially deaf man….very interesting and his support of the marginalized, the ignored and the repressed.

He’s a man for all seasons. A renaissance man. A funny, poignant writer and performer with a lot to say and a lovely, gentle, pushy way to say it. He is also a musician, and for his show finale, he gets out his guitar and sings…which was absolutely gorgeous!

Feminist Ass Man is a wonderful fusion of comedy and anecdotal commentary on an insane world. Dale Dymkoski has perfected a gentle, nonjudgmental style of observational comedy. He is warmly engaging, sweetly handsome and profoundly funny!! Definitely one of my favorite Fringe shows!
