[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts music review of David A’s “Lit” album.
Indie blues rock is as American as you can get. This album by veteran musician and self-professed ‘outsider’ David A is a gorgeous journey through the mind and soul of a man who loves to rock n roll through the American life. David A’s “Lit” is 10 tracks of heartache and heartbreak, sweet odes and tough memories.
David A holds nothing back with these striped-down musical poems. He laments and he praises as the guitars riff and the melody sores and dips. It’s an album of emotive phrasing and solid, forward-moving songs. Each one picking up where the last left off.
“Lit” is a real ‘album,’ in the old-fashioned sense. It all comes together and holds to a theme giving the listener a long stretch of musical mood to sink their teeth into.
This is great driving music. Trip music. Warm and rhythmic, charged and opinionated. There’s an attitude, but it’s not in your face. It’s personal.
David A has been a musician all his life and you can hear it in his voice, feel it in the way the tracks connect and there’s a deep satisfaction to that. Loved it!!
