[NoHo Arts District, CA] – Dance Camera West 2026 (DCW2026) will present four days of boundary-pushing dance films, conversations, workshops and community gatherings across Los Angeles, with events at Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, Colburn’s Zipper Hall and the Philosophical Research Society.
Six curated film programs of 40+ short and documentary dance films making their World, North American, West Coast, or Los Angeles premieres. Special programs include iconic dance films by Shirley Clarke and David Roussève, the LA POPS UP program of L.A.-based choreographers, a one-day workshop with Australian author, filmmaker, and professor Karen Pearlman. The documentary O R I G I N S about choreographer Alonzo King, with the filmmaker and company members moderated by Loyola/Colburn professor and author Jill Nunes Jensen, plus an Australian short doc celebrating 110-year-old modern dancer Eileen Kramer.

The Workshop:
A three-hour interactive lab designed to catalyze new ideas. We’ll be using the legendary work of Shirley Clarke as our jumping-off point, looking at excerpts and examples of key cinematic moments from films she directed and edited as a foundation for exploring ideas. Following the workshop, we will resume our programming with the evening’s screenings
Embodied Filmmaking: 8 Films by Shirley Clarke, Film Screening/Book Launch
